From small control cabinets to complex building control systems
Supporting projects from start to finish

HERMOS continues its success story and offers opportunities in all areas
From small control cabinets to complex building control systems: HERMOS Schaltanlagen GmbH designs and builds control cabinets for customers worldwide. The company from Mistelgau continues to write its success story and is growing in all areas.
In addition to in-house production at three locations, one of the key pillars of HERMOS Schaltanlagen GmbH is design engineering. Here, systems are developed and planned according to the specifications of planners or, for example, heating and ventilation contractors, and then manufactured to measure for each individual project.
One of HERMOS’s design engineers is Stefan Hagen. He has been with the company since 2007 and is now 31 years old. He started with an apprenticeship as an electronics technician for industrial engineering and, after qualifying as a skilled worker, went on to earn his master craftsman qualification. After a brief “detour” to another company focusing on the installation and commissioning of biogas plants, he returned to HERMOS in 2014 and now works in design engineering. “An almost ideal career path,” as he sees it, because he is familiar both with the production and testing of switchgear within the company and with on-site work on construction sites. What he additionally needs for his current role—and what he has acquired—are commercial skills. “We do not just draw plans; we also prepare the quotation and the cost calculation.” This is what also makes the work so varied and versatile for him.
The work is also varied due to the diversity of tasks. “No switchgear system is like another,” reports Stefan Hagen. Time and again, you have to think your way into it, find solutions, and then translate them into plans. “We essentially support a project from start to finish,” he says. “Part of the job is coordinating with customers or planners time and again.” HERMOS has a partnership-based relationship with many customers, has worked with them for many years, and knows the requirements they want.
This close customer relationship certainly also contributes to HERMOS’s positive development, because the success story continues. The company is growing, and therefore new employees are being sought in all areas. The ideal candidates would be people with experience in control cabinet manufacturing and further training as a master craftsman or technician. Basic knowledge of EPLAN P8 is an advantage. However, a career change is also possible: you can consolidate your electrical engineering skills internally—first for a few months in control cabinet manufacturing and then in testing—before moving into electrical design engineering.
“Electronic know-how is extremely important,” says Stefan Hagen. For him, HERMOS is the ideal employer, because he also values “the good working atmosphere.” Collaboration with colleagues is excellent, and managers also play an important role in this. “Perhaps the positive mood is helped by the fact that we are all on first-name terms,” says Stefan Hagen. In addition, HERMOS offers many opportunities for personal development and career advancement. In any case, Stefan Hagen will design many more switchgear systems and will always be involved with enjoyment and enthusiasm.
